Introduction
The cornerstone of Christian prosperity comprises four pillars: the Word of God, prayer, trusting the Holy Spirit, and winning souls. Success is becoming what God wants you to be and acquiring what He has for you. Or, put another way, success is acquiring what God has for you so that you can become what He wants you to be. We will delve a bit deeper into each of the above four components in future bite-sized portions. Let's make it a weekly rendezvous.

The Word of God
The Word of God is God speaking. It is the mind of God, the will of God, and God Himself. God and His Word are one. John 1:1 says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." In John 1:14, "the Word became flesh and dwelt among us." Jesus is the Word, Jesus is with God, and Jesus is God. When we read, study and meditate on the Word of God, we fill ourselves with God. No wonder God instructed Joshua to constantly meditate on the Word, as that was the only way he could obey God completely, make himself prosperous, and have good success (Joshua 1:8). According to Jesus, man shall not live by bread alone; he will live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of Father God (Matthew 4:4). It is God's will that we think, talk and act like Him so that we can prosper in every department of life. Above all, He wants us to be doers of the Word, not hearers (or preachers) only, deluding ourselves (James 1:22). It was Charles Capps who said, "The secret of success is: ‘come to Jesus, hear what He says, do what He says.’" This declaration echoes Mary’s instruction to the servants at the wedding in Cana of Galilee regarding her son, Jesus: "whatever He tells you, do it."

Prayer
Prayer is talking with God. It means conversing with God; it’s less about pointing out what is wrong and more about enlisting divine action to fix it (Isaiah 45:1). Rather than merely lamenting what is wrong, prayer is a dialogue with God that seeks His intervention to correct a negative condition. Prayer involves reminding God of His promises or Word regarding a situation and soliciting His aid to resolve it according to His divine will (Matthew 7:7-11). Consider prayer a strategic transaction. You articulate what you desire, according to God’s Word, rather than existing circumstances. Far from being a religious observance, it is a profound governmental act and a political activity. Heaven constitutes the government, and Earth serves as its outpost. Prayer represents the earthly permission for heavenly intervention (Matthew 18:18-20). It works as a heartfelt proclamation, not a futile lamentation. It is about affirming, not complaining. Prayer empowers Man to deploy Kingdom authority on Earth. Events occur on Earth because we, the children of God, allow them, rather than actively influencing their course.

Trusting the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit ( or the Holy Ghost) is the third person of the Holy Trinity- God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is the person of the Godhead operating on Earth today. In the Old Testament, Israel mainly dealt with God the Father. When Jesus walked the seashores of Galilee, He was the primary person of the Godhead operating on Earth. When He ascended to heaven, He sent the Holy Ghost to us on Earth, as He promised. While the Holy Ghost convicts the world of sin (John 16:7-11), to the Church He is helper, comforter, advocate, counsellor, intercessor, teacher, guide, strengthener, and standby (John 14:26; 15:26 and 16;13-15). We must depend on the Holy Spirit to understand and practice the Word of God, to pray (Romans 8:26), to walk in love, to forgive, to receive forgiveness, to live a holy life and to witness about Jesus Christ. We must learn to seek and follow His leading in all things - in our personal life, family, job, business and ministry. According to Zechariah 4:6, we function “’ not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit’, says the Lord.” If we let Him, He will guide us in the footsteps of Jesus so that we can become more and more like the Lord. With the Spirit ahead, behind, around and within us (John 14:17), we will avoid the traps of Satan and make good decisions. As Paul wrote, “we have the mind of Christ” when we have the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 2:16). The Holy Spirit empowers us to do as God instructs; He is our Helper. We are, however, required to commit to obeying God, since the Holy Spirit will not act on the Word instead of us. The first step rests with us. Abraham’s servant testified, “I being on the way, the Lord led me…” (Genesis 24:27). We often fall short, but “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

Winning Souls
The Holy Spirit is the one who convicts the sinner of sin. No amount of condemnation, preaching or pleading, without the help of the Holy Ghost, will convince a sinner to surrender to Jesus. As Pastor Enoch Adeboye says, none of us “can save an ant.” Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to empower believers to be effective witnesses for Him (Luke 24:49, Acts 1:8). Soul winning is at the heart of God's mission. Jesus commanded us to pray to the Lord of the harvest (God the Father) to send out labourers into His harvest (Matthew 9:38). Workers are in high demand for the plentiful harvest of souls. There are “multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision” (Joel 3:14). May the Lord grant us a burden for souls. The burden is developed in the place of prayer (communion with the Holy Spirit). Only the Holy Spirit can open our eyes to the urgent need of a lost and dying world for the salvation available in Christ alone. May He equip us with the boldness and courage necessary to disseminate the glad tidings from heaven to all people. May we be found worthy to receive the soul winner’s crown at the judgment seat of Christ (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20, Daniel 12:3). The King’s business requires haste (1 Samuel 21:8). We must arise now and obey the Great Commission to reach the world for Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-20), trusting the Holy Spirit for help.
